The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
